New shift starts later. It's only a few hours earlier than my previous one, so it should still be comfortable. Board exam-wise... I do hope I get motivated enough to hit the advanced Chem books soon.
Work's been challenging as always. I'm thinking of way to be slightly more efficient. That's what I like about my current job I guess. My boss and coworkers tell my that I (and collectively, the team) have been doing good, but there's still plenty of room for improvement.
I hope I can squeeze in some Street Fighter time after hours, though. I'm rusty. News of an SFIV cab in Makati certainly put me in good spirits. (Now, I hope they can fix one side of the cab asap.)
***
Speaking of SF, to the fans reading... I never knew that Flowchart Kens existed offline and in arcades too. I guess they started from there and pre-SFIV before they made their way to Live and PSN, huh?
*** I feel a sense of accomplishment whenever I get through a day, and go, "Oh, so that's what the name of that song is!" It doesn't have to be a song or a genre I like, as long as I can get it off my case.
Like this week for this instance, I got to tick off this and this off my list.
*** Last week, I went into a pizza parlor and ate alone as if it were a fast food joint. Bad idea. No, it wasn't the food (it was good), it was the ambience and experience. It was the first time I went to such a place alone and not eating with my family/friends, I wasn't ordering "to go" either. The feeling was certainly different. I guess certain places and events are meant for group affairs, or even dates.
On that note, finally got a Palm Card. It's going to be handy for parties and gettogethers.

Been busy for the last week or so, but I feel this warrants its own entry. :D
Huge collection of the Rock's matches and (equally as important!) his disses and promos.

Happy birthday to Steph, You're a ho with big breasts! So take some off from the hooking, If ya smell...what the Rock is cookin'!
Ahhh... good ol' times. *tear*
Man, I miss him. I've only seen three of his movies, and while Hollywood made be good for him, I do believe the WWE sure could use Rock or a new Rock-figure right about now. The Age of Wiggernomics just ain't cuttin' it for me. |

Bored and found download links to all of the WWE's Hell in a Cell matches to date. I've only watched half. Thoughts so far:
Snow vs. Bossman- Kennel from Hell (Unforgiven 1999)
I...I'm not even going to bother watching this one. I'm kinda glad I missed it the first time back in the Attitude Era. I read alot of reviews and thoughts about it, and it does sound really bad.
Nash vs. HHH (Bad Blood 2003)-
Brutal, but, as some people would say (I don't like this invented word though), "meh". I certainly missed alot of 2002 and the first half of 2003 WWE-wise. Didn't know that HHH did the toolbox-as-weapons-no-jutsu as early as then.
Batista vs. HHH (Vengeance 2005)-
Crazy shit. I think this is what Nash-HHH should have been. The chair with the barbed wire was creepy. A nice, bloody brawl.
If anything, this match was meant to solidify Batista's cred as champion. Not only did it signal HHH jobbing to Batista for the third title match in a row, it also had Bats kicking out of a Pedigree. Holy shit. I don't think I've seen anyone do that since... Warrior back in '96.
Orton vs. Undertaker (Armageddon 2005)-
Average. Standard post-2000 "no more high falling spots for you!" HIAC fare. I liked the surprise RKO when Taker was on the ropes.
I would've wanted Orton to win, but the fact that Taker had to use all three of his finishers (or three of his four, if you count his MMA submission stuff like Dragon Sleeper or Triangle Choke as finishers) to defeat Orton. The latter absorbed a chokeslam and a Last Ride, and countered a Tombstone into a Tombstone of his own before losing to Undertaker's Tombstone.
The "LOL Cowboy Bob has hepatitis" stories that emerged after this match certainly added intrigue to the whole affair.
McMahons and Big Show vs. DX (Unforgiven 2006)-
Bigger, scarier looking cell. Above average (no pun intended) IMO. Shane's trash can Van Terminator was awesome, as well as Vince getting a facefull of Show's rear. Really nasty finish with both McMahons looking like they sustained spinal injuries (perfectly still, blank look, bloodied mouth, etc.)
--- Will watch the others later. My favorite out of all the matches of this nature is definitely Brock vs. Taker.. |

Random thoughts in a convo with Ix_ while old Ultimate Fighting Championship tapes were being aired late nights:
Ix444333: ooooh gracie shamrock Ix444333: is this the superfight? fourneQs: Yeah Ix444333: ah shit Ix444333: this match is super gay fourneQs: Yan ba ang draw? [Is that the one that ended in a draw?] Ix444333: gracie hates shamrock for this Ix444333: yep fourneQs: Doh.
[fifteen minutes later]
fourneQs: You're right Wow... this fight is longer than registration at the LTO.
[LTO = Land Transportation Office. Its American equivalent would be the DMV. The LTO registrations here consist of an unbelievable amount of red tape, and there are fixers and inside men who can help hasten it... but for a fee. Ah, corruption ftl]
fourneQs: zzzz Ix444333: yeah man Ix444333: nothing ever happens
--- And on a different note
fourneQs: Oh hey, Severn vs. some Russian judo dude. Ix444333: taktarov Ix444333: that is an awesome match fourneQs: hehe fourneQs: brb panoorin ko muna [BRB, I'll watch it] Ix444333: k
[minutes later]
fourneQs: they should've made a final fight movie then. [Dan] Severn is soooo Mayor Mike Haggar. fourneQs: lmao. fourneQs: Jesus lol. OTG knees and headbutts. Ix444333: lol Ix444333: someone really has to go in there and do a deathfist +scream O-WA! |

And the States gets owned again. The Dream Team days are so far away, and yet I'm happy that the rest of the world is very competitive basketball-wise. Well, except for the Philippines but I'm sure that's more with the internal politics of the pro leagues here than questions of talent.
Damn, I'm tempted to make a Vega vs. Sophitia or Cassandra picture right about now.
Entry about the art contest that (occurred earlier) coming soon |

Los Angeles (DPA) - Dirk Nowitzki put his teammates on his shoulders and carried the Dallas Mavericks to the Western Conference finals.
The German juggernaut had 37 points, including the game-tying three-point play in the final seconds of regulation, along with 15 rebounds, and the Mavericks controlled the overtime for a thrilling 119-111 victory on Monday night in game seven to dethrone the NBA champions San Antonio Spurs in their semifinal series.
Dallas won the series 4-3 and advanced to the conference finals for the third time in franchise history and first since 2003, in a fantastic series in which six of the seven games were decided in the final minutes.
''This was am amazing series and to be part of it was unbelievable,'' Nowitzki said. ''A couple of plays here and there and the series could have gone either way. We just believed it was our time to win it.''
Spurs' Tim Duncan agreed following a playoff career-high 41-point effort and 15 rebounds.
''This was a great series,'' he said. ''It was the best series I ever played in. Both teams played it to the wire every game.''
Dallas will host the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night in the opener of the conference series. The Sun routed the LA Clippers 127-107 to win the other conference series, 4-3 as well.
====
At any rate, it was a very, very good run, Clips. I hope Big Balls Cassell and most of this year's roster come back next season.
I don't particularly like the remaining teams save Detroit, but it was a fantastic second round of the playoffs. (Bad officiating and Michael Finley getting low-blowed aside.)
And before you ask, yes, the Philippines is basketball crazed, and aside from the local collegiate and pro leagues, every Filipino has his or her favorite NBA team to root for. The other American professional leagues? Not so much. |

Entry on speech and academics and the February Fair to come later.
For now, rejoice.

Here's hopin' that Old Redneck doesn't win it back too soon.
(I'm still pissed at the fact that ECK being champs simultaneously didn't pan out though. Stupid Cena.) |

I watched Lesnar vs. Taker Hell in a Cell again, and I miss No-neck McGee more than ever.
Blood and brutality. Surviving a chokeslam and a Last Ride, and reversing a Tombstone into an F-5. Awesome! It could've gone well without Heyman's whining for most of the match, but ah well.
I wish he'd come back to the WWE one day. (But given that lawsuit thing doesn't seem that he will.). He's so scary and powerful and talented. I've got to browse SNV and some other puroresu sites to see how he's faring in Japan. |

Holy NYR. I'm gonna draw an Edge (WWE) meets Edge (Project Justice) piece now, to commemorate.
As an aside, remember when I've gone through the "think-about-things-in-fighting-game-parlance" phase? I think I'm going through a "wrestling parlance" phase. I can't help but notice the little things in fighters that are a throwback to wrestling. Hugo, the Kings in Tekken, how many of Project Justice's characters have a bulldog as a hind throw, and how Julia seems to have the F-U (yeah I know it's just a fireman's carry to body slam, but it's the first thing that came to mind) in Tekken 3/Tag.
Heck, even when it comes to academic terms. Quoting a post I made in the animé club forums:
"Although, I must say pro wrestling is like problem solving in exams. Sure the answer's obvious enough [in some instances] and the outcome easy to see, but it's how you got to the result, it's the process [or the solution] that counts."
I still can't believe I wrote that.
Edit ---- Really, now (see second runner-up). First Spike with its touting of Fight Night Round 2, then this. Wrestling and boxing sims are fun and cool and all, but I wish people'd stop lumping them in with conventional fighters.
The existence of a best story category broke my brain too. |

You're a Slytherclaw!: By nature you are rational and a realist. Some people may call you cynical and elitist but this doesn't matter to you. You don't depend on other people's opinions to determine how you live your life. You are generally cautious and prefer to weigh the consequences before you act. In conflicts you prefer to remain neutral and aloof. You value intelligence and you are a natural diplomat, you can convince people to do what you want them to do. Your weakness is that you sometimes think more with your head than with your heart and it leads to isolation. With the intelligence of a Ravenclaw and the subtlety of a Slytherin you will be sure to achieve all your goals!
